Questions
Bring Your Own Bike: your questions
What you need to bring, what CRS provides around you, and how a track day with your own bike is organised.
What it is about
What is the difference between Experience Track Riding and Bring Your Own Bike?
Experience Track Riding includes everything except your riding gear. You ride our Ducati race bikes, with professional coaching, technical support, all-in catering, insurance and an overnight stay in our paddock suites. Everything is handled from start to finish; you bring your own riding gear (CRS can provide it on request), and travel to and from the circuit is up to you.
Bring Your Own Bike is track access with your own motorcycle, including CRS support: check-in, briefing, planning and a contact person in the paddock, and a reserved place for your bike and equipment in the CRS pit box. Your entry with the organiser of the day is included: CRS enters you, so you deal with CRS alone. Catering, transport, technical support and individual coaching are chosen separately as options.
What can I add to a Bring Your Own Bike booking?
The base booking gives you track access with your own bike, a reserved place for your bike and equipment in the CRS pit box, and CRS support: check-in, briefing, planning and a contact person in the paddock. Your entry with the organiser of the day is included: CRS enters you, so you deal with CRS alone. From there you build the day you want:
- Transport — collection of your bike at home (Belgium only) and transport to the circuit and back
- Support Base — refuelling with fuel you supply, tyre warmers on and off, tyre pressure checks
- Support Pro — Support Base plus wheel and brake changes with your parts, and minor mechanical work
- All-in catering, with or without breakfast
- Coaching — individual on-track coaching with video analysis and feedback, booked per session; a full day of coaching is also possible
On the circuit, the track-day organiser's insurance applies. Insuring your own motorcycle is your own responsibility, as our general terms set out.
Before you book
Do I need a motorcycle licence, and is there a minimum age?
Yes, a valid motorcycle licence (category A) is required. You show it when you register, as our general terms set out. We may also ask about your riding experience, your circuit history or a racing licence.
Participants must be at least 18 years old, and your date of birth is requested when you book. Bring your identity card or passport and your motorcycle licence to check-in.
If you are unsure whether an event suits your level, tell us briefly what you have ridden and we will give you an honest recommendation.
How does booking work, and what happens next?
Everything goes through the online booking, for both Experience Track Riding and Bring Your Own Bike. Choose your event on the events page, choose what you want to book, and follow four steps:
- Event: your day or days, and any options.
- Your details: name, address, date of birth, e-mail address and phone number, plus a company name and VAT number if the invoice goes to a business.
- Your account: sign in with your CRS password, or confirm your e-mail address with a code we send you.
- Confirm: check the summary and the terms, and confirm.
Once you continue past the first step, your place is held for 60 minutes and a countdown shows the time left. If it runs out, the place goes back on sale and you simply start again. Nothing is booked until you confirm; from then on the booking is binding and you receive an invoice with the payment details.
You then receive a confirmation e-mail with your reference and a short rider form to fill in. CRS enters you with the organiser of your date and sends you the practical information, including the organiser's rules for the day.
How do I pay, and what if I have to cancel?
All prices on the site are per person and include VAT. You can book as a private individual or as a business, with a company name and VAT number, which we use for invoicing.
You receive an invoice with the payment details and pay it by bank transfer; there is no down payment. Pay within 14 days of confirming your booking; your confirmation e-mail and your invoice give the exact date. If your event starts within 14 days of booking, payment is due the day before the event; if you book the day before the event or later, you pay straight away. Your booking is binding as soon as you confirm it, and your place is final once we have received payment in full. Because your booking is for a fixed date, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply. If the invoice is not paid on time, CRS may cancel the booking.
To cancel, let us know in writing or by e-mail at info@crs-racing.com. What you get back depends on how long before the event you cancel:
- More than 30 days before: a full refund
- 20 to 30 days before: 50% back
- 14 to 20 days before: 20% back
- Less than 14 days before: no refund
Moving to another date, or passing your place to someone else, is only possible if agreed in writing with CRS beforehand.
If force majeure, such as extreme weather, forces CRS to cancel or change an event, CRS refunds what you have paid where possible, or proposes an alternative; there is no further compensation. The details are in our general terms.
The track day itself is run by its organiser, and the organiser's rules apply on the day. Once you book, CRS tells you which organiser runs your date and what its rules are.
On the day
Which bike do I ride, and what equipment do I bring myself?
On Experience Track Riding you ride the latest Ducati superbikes: 214 hp at 13,000 rpm, 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, prepared and maintained to race standards.
Your riding gear is not included in the price: leathers, helmet, gloves and boots are personal and bought to fit you, so you bring your own. CRS can provide gear on request: ask for it when you book.
Whatever you wear, our general terms ask for approved and complete safety gear: a helmet, protective clothing, motorcycle boots and gloves, and preferably a back protector. An airbag vest is strongly recommended, but not mandatory unless CRS or the circuit requires one. Without the right gear, CRS may refuse you access to the track, so if you are unsure about yours, contact us before your date.
On Bring Your Own Bike you ride your own bike in your own gear, and the same rules apply.
How are safety and instruction organised?
Safety comes before speed. Each track day is run by its organiser together with the circuit: the safety briefing, the marshals, race control and the groups by pace are theirs, and the organiser's rules apply to every rider on the day. CRS adds what the organiser does not: we ask your level before you arrive, and your coach (always on Experience Track Riding, as an option on Bring Your Own Bike) works closely with you. On Experience Track Riding, you ride in your own protective gear, or in gear CRS provides on request.
Instruction is led by experienced professionals, including our own Benelux Supersport champion Bram Lambrechts. The coaching covers riding technique, safety and racing strategy, and with a coach you receive personal feedback after each session. The aim is not only to make you faster, but to make you a safer and more insightful rider.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Events go ahead in the rain. Riding in the wet is part of circuit life, and Spa-Francorchamps in particular is known for its changing conditions. The wet is also where you learn the most about throttle control and lines. If you ride with a coach, they adapt the plan and the pace to the conditions.
If conditions become unsafe, the organiser of the day and the circuit can stop a session. That call is theirs, not CRS's: on safety, the circuit always has the last word. As our general terms set out, CRS is not liable for the circuit's decisions or for schedule changes beyond its control, so track time lost to the weather is not refunded. If a session is stopped, we tell you on the spot how the rest of the day runs.
If extreme weather forces CRS to cancel or change the event itself, CRS refunds what you have paid where possible, or proposes an alternative.
Practical
What is a combi package, and how long do events last?
Events run from a single day to three days on the same circuit. On Experience Track Riding your stay in the paddock is included, whether you ride a Single Day or the Full Programme.
A combi package links several events into one booking, for example Dijon, Le Mans and Mugello in the same summer, or the full Jerez week between Christmas and New Year. Together the parts add up to as many as seven days on track. The combi's own page lists each part with its dates and circuit. Combi packages are currently offered as Bring Your Own Bike. The events page shows the exact dates and prices.
